Our Team
Michele Darling, PhD (she/her)
CEO & Research Director
Michele has been a researcher since 1994 and started with LPC in 2001. She attended UC Davis, St. Mary’s College, Sac State, and the University of Virginia. Her spare time is spent enjoying good coffee, delicious food, and great conversation.
Laura Hones, MA (she/her)
Senior Associate
Laura joined LPC in 2022. She studied anthropology at Columbia University Teachers College and Illinois Wesleyan University. She enjoys pub trivia, DIY projects, and vegetable gardening.
Lynn Liu, MSc (she/her)
Research Associate II
Lynn joined LPC in 2022. She attended the University of College London and University of California, Irvine. She has a background in social epidemiology, public health, and social policy. In her spare time she coaches Muay Thai and explores the outdoors with her husband and husky.
Tracey Weld, MS (she/her)
Senior Associate
An LPC’er since 2001, Tracey attended Sac State and University of La Verne. Her spare time is spent exploring nature in her adventure van with good food, a camera in-hand, and her husband by her side.
Charles de Watteville, MDiv, MSW
Data Systems Manager
With LPC since 1997, Charles is a bi-vocational pastor and data systems manager. He does video editing/production with his wife in his spare time and enjoys reading sci-fi/fantasy novels and watching Korean TV dramas with his daughter for entertainment.
Brenna Bernardino, MPH (she/her)
Research Associate II
Brenna joined LPC in 2023. She grew up in Australia and studied at the University of Melbourne and the University of Queensland. She has a background in sexual and reproductive health and Indigenous health. She enjoys learning Spanish and volunteering in public health.
Allison Burke, MS (she/her)
Senior Associate
Allison, who joined LPC in 2006, attended UC Davis and the University of Nebraska. She loves all things food – cooking, eating, wine tasting, and traveling far and wide to try new restaurants.
Jessica Fat, BA (she/her)
Research Associate II
Jessica has been at LPC since 2017. She grew up in Sacramento and majored in psychology at UCLA. She enjoys good food, good books, reality TV, traveling, and hiking with her two labradors.
Kayla Lail, MSW (she/her)
Data Visualist
Kayla started with LPC in 2021. She has a background in finance and public policy and attended the University of Houston. She loves live music, crafting, and hiking in the Texas hill country.
